Ingredients

  • 2 ozBourbon
  • ½ ozSimple syrup, 2:1 (sugar:water)
  • 2 d.Angostura aromatic bitters
  • 1 d.Angostura orange bitters
  • —Maraschino cherry, to garnish
  • —Orange peel, to garnish

Method

  1. Add simple syrup and both bitters to a chilled rocks glass.

  2. Add an ounce of bourbon and stir briefly to combine.

  3. Add a single large cube of clear ice; pour the rest of the bourbon over.

  4. Stir gently with a bar spoon for 20 seconds — you want chill, not dilution.

  5. Express an orange peel over the surface, drop it in alongside a maraschino cherry.
